‘Pink Outside The Box’ Look

For my most recent look I created a subtle neon pink eye look with a bright lip. As usual I wanted to share with you all my thoughts on some of the products used to create this!

Firstly I must mention the base. I used The Ordinary High Coverage Foundation in 1.2P Light. The best thing about this is what a bargain it is! It’s just over a fiver which is such a great deal for such a good quality product. The coverage is full but not at all cakey and the finish is a natural demi-matte. I have super sensitive skin and this foundation did not cause a single issue. LJL Rating: 10/10

For my concealer I used the cult favourite ELF Camo Concealer in ‘Fair Rose’. I hate to say it but I just don’t think this product is worth the hype. I found it to be very drying and too heavy. It was not easy to blend into my makeup and just sat on top of my base. It costs £5 but I think there are so many drugstore concealers for less that work much better so unfortunately I will not be buying this again. LJL Rating: 4/10

For my lips I used Revlon HD Matte Colour in shade ‘Love’. This is £8.99 but I did actually find it recently in TK Maxx for £3! This is the smoothest matte lipstick and I would actually say it acts as more of a lip stain based on how long it lasts without creasing or drying out. The colour payoff is high as you can see but I think this shade would work with many looks. If you like a bold lip I would absolutely recommend this! LJL Rating: 9/10

TK Maxx has me shook!

I’ll start by being totally honest. TK Maxx has always slightly scared me. Upon entering you get confronted with such a random display of items with no idea of what you may find. For that reason I hadn’t been there in many moons. That is until… yesterday! And being totally honest…the day before that too!

This wasn’t a totally random choice. I had watched one of my fave makeup vloggers Stephanie Toms’ video of a full face of TK Maxx tutorial . Her experience there seemed incredible! She had managed to get some incredible bargains on good high end makeup.

Naturally, on the day I went straight to the store nearest me, which at the time was in Woking. I’ve got to be real here, this store wasn’t great. Most of the makeup was opened and there wasn’t a huge selection. I looked through everything and just gave up.

The next day I happened to drive past the store in Croydon and thought, hey ho let’s give this another try. I am glad I did! Once again, the organisation in the beauty section isn’t the best, but if you commit to finding some bargains, you won’t be disappointed.  There were items from Too Faced, Pixi, Eyelure, Nip and Fab, Mac, Makeup Forever, Ardell, O.P.I and mucchhh more with most prices up to 70% off which is insane for high end brands. There makeup brush sets  in particular impressed me and they had most of the Technic brush sets for half the RRP.

I didn’t pick up much as I already own a lot of the products (annoyingly as I could have saved so much on them!). I did manage to get a Pixi Contour and Strobe Palette for £8 instead of £24, Eyelure lashes for £2.99 instead of £5.95, Revlon lashes for £1 instead of £2 and a Nip+ Fab liquid lippy I’ve wanted for agesss for £3 instead of £7.95.

Things get better! Online I found an even bigger range of products! I thought I’d wait to take pics of what I’ve ordered but I thought it best to post now so you guys can get in on the bargains too as I noticed they disappear FAST. At the end I’ll link in a few of the best saves online that I’ve found.

LJL Tip: Get online NOW! Things go FAST!

My overall verdicts is that TK Maxx has the potential to allow you to buy a whole new bunch of high end beauty products for the price of low end items. The website is definitely worth checking out, as it is clear that some stores are significantly better than others. This is definitely the best place for those with expensive taste on a low budget and in the future I plan on doing another TK trip so keep checking and I’ll write soon on more discoveries!
